2.3 Blazon and emblazonment
THE EMBLAZONMENT
To emblazon arms is to paint them in full colour, according
to the blazon. As accurate as the latter is, the same arms can be found
in different variations due to artistic taste and style.
The Polish arms (White Eagle of Piat on red) were depicted
in different forms at different periods.
There are a few versions of the arms of Columbus, showing
variations of the quarters, position of lion, shape of islands, direction
of anchors.
