5.1 Arms describe the owner 

DYNASTIC RELATIONSHIPS
 
The presence of the basic shield of a certain dynasty in a composite coat shows that the owner belongs to a branch of that family. 

The House of Wettin ruled Saxony, and its shield appears in the arms of the many branches of the family.

Basic arms of Saxony

Ferdinand I, King of Bulgaria, was the son of Prince Augustus of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha. 
 

Shields from the arms of Johan- Georg II, Prince of Anhalt- Dessau, who descended from a 13th century Duke of Saxony.
